Lockers, Bowls Cases, and Bookshelves — A Big Run for Community Joinery

Locker Room at the Bowling Club

The Shed was contracted by the St Ives Bowling Club to design and construct 12 lockers for members to store their bowls. The lockers were fabricated from melamine sheet as four individual chassis of three lockers each, transported by ute, and bolted together on site. Special locks were sourced to allow members to supply their own padlocks, and an aluminium liner was added to protect the base when bowls bags were being dragged in and out. All construction was carried out under the leadership of Peter McLean.

Nearly 40 Bowls Cases

The team headed by Rob Lander and Gerry Hoy has made nearly 40 bowls storage cases over the past twelve months. Each is sealed with a urethane lacquer to protect against wet bowling greens. The cases are used to store donated bowls for the club’s barefoot bowls trade days, and club management have been highly complimentary about the quality and presentation.

Bookshelves for Lifeline Gordon

In addition to the bowling club work, the Shed constructed bookshelves for the Lifeline Store at Gordon — another contribution to a community organisation that does important work in the area.
